A healthy diet can help alleviate Covid-19, along with vaccination

A study from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, confirmed that a healthy diet, along with vaccination, can help reduce the burden of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.

The document, published in the British journal BMJ Nutrition Prevention & Health, stated that high intakes of the legumes, bread and cereal groups, among others, led to a reduction in overall disease severity.

Research participants described immune systems against pathogens as safe, effective and the first line of defense; However, they note that attention to the protective effect related to diet is largely lacking.

Food handling is well known to the scientific community, so we weren’t surprised that eating certain groups was beneficial for outpatients with Covid-19, lead author Elihud Salazar-Robles said.

The confirmed results provide information that should also be considered by contacts close to positive cases and can be promoted for further exploration, added another of the script implementers, Claudia Lerma.

The project, led by the Centro Universitario de la Costa, Department of Medical Sciences at the University House Superior, has evaluated 236 people with suspected Covid-19, of whom 103 have been infected.

The designed questionnaire made it possible to collect data on the dietary intake of adults during the three months prior to Covid-19 tests.

The subject of analysis is relatively small; It is only the beginning and shows how important the impact of diet as a mitigating factor is and should be explored carefully, Dr. Lirna said.
