A congresswoman confirms that privatization seeks to break up Puerto Rico

San Juan: The privatization of the assets of the Puerto Rican people promoted today by the policy of annexation governor Pedro Pierluisi seeks to dismantle Puerto Rico, according to Representative Mariana Nogales Molinelli.

A spokeswoman for the Selective Citizen Victory Movement (MVC) in the House of Representatives described the plan, which has been advanced since 2009 to dismantle the island’s government, as a “monopoly” to feed major foreign interests.

To curb such a situation, it proposes measures aimed at rebuilding public services, including eliminating the PPP agency, canceling contracts with LUMA Energy, HMS Ferries and San Juan Cruise Ports, and protecting people’s access to housing.

“Puertopolio is a game very similar to Monopoly, but colonial and congressional rules were set by unscrupulous politicians in collusion with banks and a sector of the rich and powerful, both inside and outside Puerto Rico,” said the parliamentarian.

This vision, which strips this Caribbean island of its origins, excludes the people and relies only on the government to the extent that it is in the service of privatization, pillage and the expulsion of those who cannot pay.

Nogales Molinelli noted: “The government of Puerto Rico used to have essential agencies and companies that planned, examined, quantified, and measured standards to establish public policy (aimed at) economic and social development, but dismantling it has brought us to this moment.”..

In order to reveal Pandora’s Box being plotted in Puerto Rican politics, Representative Nogales Molinelli suggested the creation of a truth commission.

In this way, he said, “how ex-conservatives and other senior officials have benefited from the policies of privatization, sale and displacement to this day” will be investigated.

He said that during the administration of Louis C. Fortunio, legislation was approved that laid the foundations for the social and economic disaster in which Puerto Rico finds itself.

“Under Fortuño, Law 6 and Law 7 of 2009 were approved, causing the loss of thousands of public servants and the dismantling of agencies, such as the DRNA (Department of Natural and Environmental Resources), through incentivized retirements and layoffs, without efforts to replace employees or protect memory institutional”.

At that time, two popular entities were created: the Public Private Partnerships Authority (Act 29 of 2009) to promote privatization, and the Office of Permit Management (Act 161 of 2009) which took powers from the Planning Board, the DNER and the Puerto Rican Institute of Culture (ICP), He allowed the country to be destroyed.

To counter this situation, he proposed agreeing to a series of measures aimed at rebuilding Puerto Rico and preserving its integrity as a nation. (PL)
