On Tuesday, Spain lifted restrictions on entry by air and sea travelers for passengers from the United Kingdom, but extended restrictions in effect for flights from Brazil and South Africa until mid-April to control the expansion of new variants of the Coronavirus.
In this way, UK citizens must henceforth submit to the same rules for the Schengen area, which obligate them to carry a negative PCR in order to be able to transit between countries, as indicated in the press conference after Cabinet Government spokeswoman Maria Jesus Monteiro.
On the contrary, the executive branch chose to maintain the restrictions imposed on flights from Brazil and South Africa to try to avoid the expansion of the detected variables in these countries, which “are still very little spread in Spain”.
In this way, it extended the restrictions for a fourth time, which will take effect from 6:00 PM on March 30th to 00:00 AM on April 13th.
The rule allows only as the only exception to flights that carry Spanish and Andorran citizens and residents in both regions, as well as passengers in international transit to a non-Schengen country with stops for less than 24 hours without leaving the transit area at the Spanish airport.
These restrictions do not affect the aviation personnel required to carry out air transportation activities.
