Vietnam trains troops with high quality for UN peacekeeping missions

This has contributed to ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment in many UN missions, said the force’s Deputy Chief of General Staff, Colonel General Phong Si Tan, during a conference to evaluate the 10 years of training personnel for peacekeeping activities.

Si Tan also called for reviewing training plans to align them with the changing requirements of the United Nations and setting a goal of obtaining recognition from the world’s largest organization for at least one such course in the near future.

At the meeting held the previous day, Deputy Chief of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations in Vietnam, Colonel General Nguyen Nhu Khanh, explained that from 2014 to 2023, 21 courses were organized in the country.

Through them, he said, nearly 1,500 soldiers have been trained and acquired the skills needed to excel in complex peacekeeping environments.

Vietnam also successfully conducted two large-scale and complex international exercises: the end of the 4th Field Training Cycle (2021-2023) of the Working Group of Experts on Peacekeeping Operations, and the bilateral armies of Vietnam and India.

He pointed out that two courses for operating heavy engineering equipment were developed in 2019, and a trainer course for operating heavy engineering equipment (2020), within the United Nations Tripartite Partnership Programme with Japan.
