Guatemalan Congress session will analyze 12 legislative initiatives

Starting at 2 p.m. local time, the deputies will hear in the second debate Resolution No. 6379, which proposes the disposal of unusable movable property belonging to the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance.

The agenda also added Initiative No. 5829, which strengthens the reforms of the School Nutrition Law, Decree No. 16-2017; and 6343 on the National Fund for Agricultural Inputs Law.

In the third debate, lawmakers will follow up on Resolution 5563 on changes to Decree 63-88, the State’s Negative Classes Law, which seeks to strengthen the retirement and pension system more in line with the country’s reality.

Resolution No. 6351 includes a proposal for the integration of the primary production and agricultural sector; Law No. 5698 seeks to amend Decree No. 68-86 relating to the Environmental Protection and Improvement Law.

Likewise, attendees in Room 5704 will discuss Initiative No. 5704, which promotes the Law for the Protection of the Lake Petén Itzá Basin, through materials.

Representative Christian Alvarez requested that the relevant Labor Committee be sent the number 6376, which repeals the Inheritance, Estate and Donation Tax Law, Decree No. 431.

Similarly, Legislator Byron Rodriguez asked that the public be made aware of Proposition 5421, which includes health law reforms.

Before the end of the first regular period, the opposition in Congress managed to postpone its approval in the third debate of the competition law.

Evaluations are still pending on what the Braille system recognizes, the vaccination system, changes to electoral regulations and political parties, among other things.
