The Calvillo Technological University is about to launch its new degree in medicine, with classes scheduled to begin in the second week of September, according to the university’s president, Eduardo González Blas. This progress represents an important milestone for higher education in the region, providing an additional option for students interested in this field. The degree is in the final stage of approval by educational authorities and will provide an important alternative for the approximately 2,000 young people who fail to enroll in the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes each year.
The university will start with two semesters, each with a capacity of 40 students, and the offer could be expanded next January, depending on demand. To ensure quality teaching, the institution has received more than 4 million pesos in support from the state government, which has been earmarked for the purchase of specialized equipment. Among the notable acquisitions is a 3D and 4D tablet the size of a human body, designed for medical practice, which will reduce reliance on real bodies, which are increasingly difficult to obtain due to human rights restrictions.
In addition, the university has coordinated with the Secretary of State for Health, Rubén Galvez Tristan, who has confirmed that medical students will be able to do their internships in two new hospitals under construction in the region. This development will enhance the practical training of future doctors and improve health care at the local level.
