With an outstanding participation and a busy agenda, the city of San Javier hosted the First Social Sciences Congress, organized by Ministerial Resolution No. 24/1106. This event, held in the gymnasium of Colegio San José, brought together local authorities, academics and students from different locations.
The day began with an artistic presentation by teachers and students of the 15th Higher Education Institute. The director of the institute, Aldana Abad, opened the event with words of thanks to the various institutions and individuals who supported the holding of the conference. The event, which highlighted the collaboration between San José College, Mayor Ana Maribel González, and other local actors.
Declarations of interest were delivered by the Senate and the House of Representatives.
The event continued with a conference by Mr. Isabelino Sidi, who spoke on “Education and Democracy”. Sidi praised the initiative of the conference and highlighted the importance of social sciences in educational training and building a democratic political culture.
The day’s agenda included a series of presentations and workshops designed to address a variety of social science topics. Topics such as “Local History” and “Social Science at the Elementary Level” stood out among the presentations, while workshops provided spaces to explore topics ranging from the Mokovi worldview to the importance of imagination in children’s literature, which was censored during the dictatorship.
The workshops, held at the Integrated Private School No. 1121 in San José, included topics such as the Mocovi Rebellion of 1904, local flora and fauna through the work of Florian Paucki, and the political dimension of the teaching mission.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony led by local indigenous communities, reflecting diversity and a commitment to cultural inclusion in education.
In his statements to the press, Mr. Sidi stressed the importance of the meeting and the need to continue similar initiatives to enhance the role of social sciences in the educational system.
With the broad participation of teachers and students from different areas of Santa Fe, the First Social Sciences Conference in San Javier was consolidated as a successful meeting point for thinking and learning about key topics in the field of social sciences.
