British media the sun Gangs from Chile and Brazil have reportedly been burglarising celebrities’ homes in the UK after analysing them on Instagram.
According to a report obtained by the media, the Border Police have warned of these criminals arriving at London’s Heathrow Airport, one of the busiest airports in that country and in Europe.
The warning comes after a Chilean criminal was caught trying to leave the country with £350,000 (more than 340 million pesos) in cash, mainly stolen diamond rings.
He was later found to have been involved in four other robberies. At this time, his identity has not been publicly revealed.
The targets, according to the authority, included movie stars, football players and celebrities from various regions. The person responsible for the main robbery has not been identified.
“The organized crime group is not limited to men; the report indicates that women are used as lookouts or money couriers.
They add that criminals also use online real estate sites to search for homes and plan burglaries.
“What might get a few thousand likes on Instagram could result in people losing hundreds of thousands (of pounds) worth of assets,” said one source.
Last May, warnings were already issued about “robbery tourism” affecting Britons and involving Chilean thieves.
The burglaries recorded took place in Cheshire’s ‘Golden Triangle’, which includes the exclusive towns of Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Prestbury, home to figures such as Marcus Rashford, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kyle Walker. There, eight burglaries worth large sums of money have been recorded there to date.
