Nicaragua Delivers New Fleet of 250 Chinese Buses to Cooperatives (+Photos)

“Today we are delivering these bus units so that they contribute to the transportation of families, children, young people who go to school and university, workers, women, doctors, teachers and all sectors of Nicaraguan society who use public transportation,” said President Daniel Ortega.

During an event also attended by Vice President Rosario Murillo, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI), Amaro Ramírez, explained that the deliveries were made to prominent transport companies from 28 cooperatives in Managua.

At the ceremony held in the Plaza de la Fe in this capital, Ramírez stressed that this project was a successful and lasting effort of the Sandinista government that placed Nicaraguan families as the main protagonists of development.

Yutong representative Santi Zhuo Qing thanked the CEO of the Central American country for his trust and choice of his company.

He expressed his great pleasure that the Nicaraguan government is proceeding with the delivery of this batch of buses to the carriers on the eve of the grand celebration of the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista Revolution. For his part, Beijing’s ambassador to Managua, Chen Xi.

In his speech, the diplomat highlighted the successes achieved by cooperation between his country and Nicaragua two and a half years after the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

At the end of last May, the Nicaraguan executive delivered another fleet of 250 Yutong buses from the Asian giant to reinforce the mass transit system in Managua and Ciudad Sandino.

With the arrival of the new transport units, Nicaragua has completed a total of 1,000 units, taking into account the 500 units that arrived last year.

According to MTI authorities, a total of 2,000 Chinese buses are scheduled to arrive this year.

The ceremony for the delivery of the new transport units was held in honor of Commander Julio Buitrago (1944-1969), on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of his fall in combat.
