ARLINGTON – The United States, host of the 2024 Copa America, began its participation in the competition with a 2-0 victory over Bolivia, in the opening match of Group C, with goals from Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun.
The three-time CONCACAF Nations League champions took to the field at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to deliver a powerful blow and open the scoring very early to impose their conditions on one of the CONMEBOL representatives.
Therefore, they are now at the top of their group with three points, waiting to see what happens in the confrontation between Uruguay and Panama, the other two countries that make up Group C of the competition.
USA goals against Bolivia
Just three minutes later the first goal of the game was scored, when America captain Christian Pulisic took possession of the ball after a short corner kick, connected it towards the middle and without thinking much about it, he shot the ball with his right foot that slipped despite the flight of Guillermo Viscarra.
The United States reached the Bolivian penalty area on several occasions, but their shooting was not sharp, until the end of the first half when Monaco striker Folarin Balogun collected the ball in the area, put it on his left leg and fired it. His left-footed shot crossed the ball past Viscarra to make it 2-0.
The USA should have increased the lead, but Ricardo Pepe missed several very clear chances, so they had to settle for a 2-0 final.
