David Fitelson ‘detained’ in US ahead of Mexico v Ecuador match

MEXICO CITY (Apro).- The TUDN commentary team had a tense moment at the airport on their way to the venue of the Mexico-Ecuador match in Phoenix, as David Fitelson was unexpectedly detained for inspection at the airport and Andres Vaca shared the story on social networks.

“Leon, they arrested Feitelson, and he was reviewed, well, just reviewed,” the historian explained. A few minutes later, Feitelson reappeared with his colleagues and explained what had happened when Vaca asked why he had been absent.

“Being a good friend, I didn’t follow my own line and they searched me three times,” Fitelson explained.

The incident did not escalate and the team of Andres Vaca, Miguel Layun, Ricardo La Volpe and David Feitelson was ready to tell the story of the Mexico vs. Ecuador match where the fate of the national team would be decided.

Mexico added another failure and were eliminated from the 2024 Copa America after a 0-0 draw with Ecuador. El Tri’s return to continental competition after an eight-year absence was memorable, as El Tri added four points by beating Jamaica 1-0, losing to Venezuela 1-0 and drawing 0-0 with Ecuador.
