UK Special Election | Labour hopes for landslide majority, Conservatives confident
Election day in the UK. Polls have been open since 8am. Labour is preparing to change the tone in the country and end 14 years of Conservative government. Current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has indicated that he will take political responsibility, given the expected defeat of the Conservatives. In this context, Sunak has called for a vote to be held so that the disaster does not become so humiliating. Labour’s Keir Starmer will be elected the next prime minister on Thursday, according to all opinion polls, although it is not yet clear how big the margin is.

The exit polls, after polls closed in the UK, show a clear victory for Labour, with 410 seats. The Conservatives are left with just 131 seats. The results show a huge increase for Labour, with 209 seats, while the Conservatives have lost 241 seats. The Liberal Democrats have gained 61 seats.
