Hurricane Beryl Threatens Jamaica With Life-Threatening Winds, Storm Surge

Jamaicans are bracing for life-threatening winds and storm surges when Hurricane Beryl makes landfall in the country on Wednesday afternoon. The storm, now a Category 4, has left a trail of destruction across the Caribbean, killing at least six people. On the eve of the storm’s arrival, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness called on wealthier nations to take stronger action against climate change.

In the past 40 years, only two other hurricanes have made landfall in Jamaica.
