UAT Environmental Sciences students present entomology projects

Cd. VICTORIA, TAM – June 27, 2024.- Students and teachers from the Faculty of Engineering and Science of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT) participated in the National Entomology Conference, held from June 23 to 26. At the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi.

The conference, organized by the Entomological Academy of Mexico, is one of the most important events in this scientific branch dedicated to the study of insects.

With the main goal of promoting knowledge of the insect fauna of Mexico, the Congress offered seminars, courses, keynote lectures, symposiums, oral exhibitions, posters, competitions and “Expoentomológica” activities that focused on the importance of insects and their impact on different ecosystems.

UAT students from the Environmental Sciences Engineering program, accompanied by professors Dr. Karla Yolanda Flores Maldonado and Dr. Juana María Coronado Blanco, presented innovative research that stood out among the academic community present.

The presented works include a comprehensive study of the biodiversity of aquatic ecosystems and water quality, specifically aquatic macroinvertebrates, in four rivers in Jomavi, Tamaulipas, and a study evaluating the impact of drought conditions on aquatic life in two rivers in Jomavi, Tamaulipas, in arid conditions.

Participation in events of this caliber not only enriches students’ training, but also highlights UAT’s commitment to scientific research and development.
