After the election date in the United Kingdom was brought forward to July 4, a debate took place between British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the opposition Labor Party, Keir Starmer.
At the meeting, they discussed the costs of living, taxes, high unemployment rates, immigration, and others.
In this regard, analyst Brenda Estefan spoke on the La Tarde program on NTN24 about the elections in the United Kingdom.
“Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer’s proposals have many similarities. However, Starmer’s proposals do not follow the logic of redistributing wealth and increasing social programmes, but are rather a centralizing proposal.”
Stephen noted that the debate had a distinctly British character, but there was criticism of the agility in exchanging ideas.
“Keir Starmer wants spaces for contrast between ideas and methods. He wants to project a different image from other Conservative leaders,” he said.
In addition, he added, Starmer wants to show that he does not belong to the British elite, to which the majority belong.
“Despite the following discussions, it is very difficult to change the outcome of the election. Starmer will definitely be the new British Prime Minister,” he stressed.
