This statement comes after the alleged authorization by the President of the United States, Joe Biden, for Kiev to use American weapons to attack Russian territory from Kharkiv Province.
“I would like to warn American officials against failures that could have serious consequences. “For unknown reasons, they underestimate the seriousness of the response they might receive,” Ryabkov said.
He also noted that President Vladimir Putin “repeatedly spoke” on this issue, and in this context, he called on Washington to treat the Russian warning “with the utmost seriousness.”
When it comes to attacks on Russian early warning systems by Ukraine, using American weapons, Ryabkov said the reactions could be asymmetrical.
The US State Department had previously stated that Biden allowed Ukraine to use American weapons to fight targets on Russian territory that threaten the Kharkiv region, but left the ban on the use of operational tactical Atakum missiles in effect.
For his part, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Moscow was not aware of the alleged authorization by the US President.
However, he stressed that the fact that the Ukrainian army is able to carry out attacks against Russia using Washington’s weapons “eloquently shows the extent of the United States’ involvement in this conflict.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on the information, confirmed that Ukraine and its allies will receive a devastating response if they use Western long-range weapons against Russian territory.
