The British government condemned the attack launched by the Ecuadorian authorities on the Mexican embassy in Quito on the 5th of this month, and demanded that the sanctity of diplomatic missions be respected, a Foreign Office spokesman said on Monday.
“All governments must respect the inviolability of diplomatic missions, as stipulated in the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations,” the source said.

Mexico cuts ties with Ecuador
“The security of diplomatic facilities and personnel is a fundamental principle guiding diplomatic relations,” he said.
Mexico decided to sever diplomatic relations with Ecuador after Ecuadorian troops entered the Mexican embassy to remove former Vice President Luis Glass, an ally of Rafael Correa, from there.
Glass was on that mission after the Mexican government granted him political asylum.
Mexico will go to the International Court of Justice on Monday to denounce Ecuador's responsibility for violations of international law.
Mexico will also turn to multilateral organizations to condemn the actions of the Ecuadorian government that caused the severing of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena said Sunday in a press conference.
