Molina Básket celebrates Women's Day in the UK – Deportes COPE in Murcia

This weekend Molina Basket Club is participating in an international women's basketball tournament in Derry (Northern Ireland). This event, organized by the Northern Ireland Basketball Association, is part of a series of events held in the United Kingdom on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Molina Basket will be the only Spanish representative in the tournament, which will feature teams from Ireland, the United Kingdom and the Northern Ireland team. Following its official introduction in February and the recently organized mini-basketball days with Ibiza club Cric Ses Salines, this trip adds to the various events scheduled to celebrate the club's 10th anniversary.

Molina's trip will consist of two teams that will compete in the Under-16 (Students) and Under-14 (Children) categories. The trainee team consists of players from Molina Basket Loymaz MB and ACG MB; Their opponents in the first group stage will be Letterkenny Belize (Donegal), Drogheda (Louth) and the Northern Ireland women's national team.

The children's team, which includes players from Peñalver MB and the Ignacio Martínez MB Fisiotherapy Clinic, will face Ballyshannon (Donegal), Carrick Cruisers (Monaghan) and the Northern Ireland Women's Cadet Team in the preliminary round.

The first matches will be played on Friday afternoon of the sixth day at Foyle Arena in Derry. The final will be held on Sunday the 8th of this month at the same venue and will be the culmination of the various sporting events planned for this weekend dedicated to women's sports in Northern Ireland.

This participation gives continuity to the relationship that the Mullins Club has established with the Irish and British teams through basketball. In recent seasons, there have been numerous occasions when teams from the islands have visited Molina de Segura; The last meeting occurred in December, when Belfast's Phoenix basketball team played a tournament in the new El Romeral Sports City. For its part, this will be Molina Basket's sixth trip to the UK, having already won the Holiday Hoops Summer Championship in 2016, 2018 and 2019.

Although some sporting events in Europe have changed due to the Coronavirus, the situation in the UK is normal. For this reason, the Northern Ireland Basketball Association has not proposed any changes to the planned program for this tournament.
