How aesthetic medicine aims to prevent, treat and improve

“Beauty is harmony,” says Dr. Marta García Redondo (Príncipe de Vergara Street, 77, Madrid), a plastic surgeon specializing in breast surgery. He adds: “For something harmonious to be beautiful, it must have something special.”

How can we achieve beauty in harmony with aesthetic medicine?

Getting something beautiful doesn't mean getting something absolutely perfect. Aesthetic medicine today consists of prevention, treatment and improving what we have, but without ceasing to be ourselves.

As a surgeon, when it comes to achieving desired results, I have to say that on some occasions, the more aggressive the technique we can use, the better results we achieve.

But I also like non-surgical treatments, because there are some patients, such as young people, who do not need to resort to surgery to improve the condition of their skin.

With a career spanning more than 15 years in plastic and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Marta Garcia Redondo provides the most innovative techniques to her patients.

There is a lot of talk today about the “aesthetic imprint”, that is, the effect that cosmetic medicine treatments can have on the face in the long term.

Plastic surgeons call it “aesthetic stigma.” For example, if a patient has elongated earlobes after having a facelift, it becomes obvious that such surgery was performed and thus stigmatized.

Both aesthetic medicine and sophisticated surgery do not have to leave behind stigmas. If we moisturize the lips, they should look sensual, exquisite, beautiful and natural, but they cannot clash with the face. If the harmonious proportions are exceeded, we face an aesthetic disgrace.

The key is prevention, but don't you think these days we start too early with cosmetic medical treatments?

I think saying no in our profession is much more difficult than saying yes. It's not bad to start blocking too early, but you have to know when to say no. The success of treatment begins with the signal. If we signal wrong, the result will not be what we are looking for.

Have you ever had to say “no” to your patients?

Yes, several times. I have always tried to be very honest: the most important thing for a doctor is to feel that he is always doing what is best for his patient.

You say that your specialty, plastic and reconstructive surgery, is the most beautiful of all.

Yes, because I believe that through it we can make people happy. There are those who underestimate this specialty because they think it is superficial, but this is not the case.: In the end, the difficulty, challenge and beauty of my job is to make a good thing even better. My goal with every surgery I perform is to do something naturally beautiful and perfect.

In consulting, you can also work with the InMode platform.

Yes, I am very happy because I think that well-used and indicated ultrasound works wonderfully, both in its less invasive form as Forma, and in the form of Morpheus8, which I have found to be a real revolution, for example, in the treatment of acne. Signs. The FaceTite platform for visible sagging tones is also very useful.
