Paris, January 21 (Prensa Latina) – The popularity of newly appointed French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal easily exceeds that of President Emmanuel Macron, who nevertheless improved his image in January, a survey revealed today.
According to an Ipsos poll for the newspaper La Tribune Dimanche, 37 percent of those interviewed supported the youngest president of the Matignon Palace of the Fifth Republic, who is 34 years old, while 30 percent believed the same for the president who is serving his term. A second five-year term of the Elysee.
Regarding the negative criteria, Macron added 65 percent to the investigation, compared to only 37 failures.
The appointment of the former education chief as Prime Minister sparked comments in the press such as the discomfort that his greater popularity would supposedly cause the head of state or that this would ultimately affect his future in politics.
In the poll, conducted by private company Ipsos, people were asked which leaders they would like to see in power after the 2027 presidential election, in which Macron will not be able to run for a third term.
Without surprises and in line with other recent opinion studies, the leader of the far-right party, Marine Le Pen (National Rally), topped the preferences with 36 percent, ahead of the former prime minister and mayor of Le Havre, Edouard Philippe (33).
Behind them are Attal (31 years old), Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire (25 years old), La France Insomessa deputy François Ruffin (21 years old), founder and leader of the Insomissa movement Jean-Luc Mélenchon (19 years old), and the supreme leader of the Communists Fabien Roussel (19 years old).
Regarding the greatest concerns of the French, the survey confirmed purchasing power problems at 55 percent, followed by difficulties in social services (40), including health and retirement, and the level of immigration (32).
