● Secretary Ninfa Cantu meets with Ambassador John Benjamin and Pharr International Bridge officials

Pharr, Texas. – To strengthen the international profile of Tamaulipas as a strategic destination in North America and attract investments that generate opportunity and prosperity, Minister of Economic Development Ninfa Canto Dayandar and the UK Ambassador to Mexico, H.E. Mr. John Benjamin held a meeting with the Pharr International Bridge authorities.

During the meeting promoted by the Government of Tamaulipas, and attended by Mayor Farr, Ambrosio Hernandez, and Director of the International Bridge, Luis Bazán; Government official Kanto Dayandar stressed the importance of identifying opportunities and building agreements with the United States and the United Kingdom that lead to facilitating trade and leveraging our regional competitive advantages.

“For Governor Américo Villarreal, the region with the most competitive economic future is precisely the border of Texas and Tamaulipas, which is why it is important to strengthen cooperative relations with the governments of North America and Britain that raise the potential of our economies.” He pointed out.

Within the framework of this dialogue, Louis Bazin, Director of the Pharr International Bridge, announced strategic projects being implemented to enhance the infrastructure and competitiveness of the complex, and facilitate foreign trade operations.

With an estimated value of more than $43 billion in merchandise exchanged annually, the Pharr International Bridge is one of the most important crossings on the Mexico-United States border, accounting for 12% of all imports and even imports to the United States of America. More than 1.4 million trailers cross this road annually.
