The couple landed at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport around 6:50 a.m. He was then sent to the Bifengxia Giant Panda Base in Ya’an, where he will remain in quarantine for a month.

Yang Guang and Tian Tian, ​​which literally means ‘ray of sunshine’ and ‘honey’, arrived at Edinburgh Zoo in December 2011 for a 10-year loan, which was later extended for a further two years. As the UK’s only pandas, they have been the subject of great interest and have attracted record numbers of visitors to the site.

Although there were several attempts to give birth to Tian Tian, ​​none of them were successful and the couple had no offspring during their stay in the European country.

Before their departure, the zoo held training sessions to acclimatize the pandas to their imminent journey. Likewise, he prepared fresh bamboo to serve as food for the animals during the journey.

According to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Chinese pandas living in 23 institutions in 19 countries abroad are generally in good health. Therefore, international cooperation in this sense has been fruitful.
