Announcing the 2020 and 2021 National Science Award winners


The Ministry of Public Education announced the winners of the National Science Prize 2020 and 2021, in the evening issue of the Official Gazette of the Federation dated December 6, 2023.

Regarding PNC 2020, in the field of Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences, the winner is Juan Ángel Rivera Domarco, Deputy Director of the Nutrition and Health Research Center of the National Institute of Public Health (INSP); In Technology, Innovation and Design, Guillermina Ferro Flores, in charge of the Research Unit. Technical Director of LANIDER, National Institute of Nuclear Research; and Jorge Anchieta Juarez, Product Manager for Crude Oil Conversion at the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP).

As for the 2021 Prize, the winners in the field of physical, mathematical and natural sciences are: Lina Ruiz Azuara, honorary researcher at the Faculty of Chemistry at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, as well as Santiago Alberto Vergovski Solá, who is considered one of the most prominent mathematicians in Latin America.

In the field of technology, innovation and design, the award was given to Refugio Rodriguez Vasquez, a C-level senior researcher in the Department of Biotechnology and Bioengineering at the Center for Advanced Research and Studies (CINVESTAF).

It should be noted that the delivery of these awards was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
