Instagram report reveals the most used emoji among young people in Brazil in 2023 and displays curiosity about general behavior on the social network.

The Instagram platform has released the “See the Trend 2024” report, prepared in partnership with WGSN, which presents four emoji forums most used by young people in Brazil in 2023 as well as revealing curiosity about Geração Z’s behavior on the social network.
The study is the result of research into questions and trends that matter to Generation Z in Brazil, the United States, the United Kingdom, India and South Korea, and the survey highlights topics relevant to this audience, such as celebrities, lifestyle and love. And a friend.
The most used emoji in Brazil
According to the report, young people between the ages of 16 and 24 in Brazil like to use emojis that contain hearts and laughter. The five most used by this generation in 2023 are:

- 🤣
Behavior of two young men
The report by Meta also reveals some curiosities about Brazil’s Geração Z that contradict global data. Young people in Brazil have more courage to “like” when it comes to employment and “reciprocate” to ask for a phone number.
Confirming the most important findings of the research:
- Geração Z no Brasil is most interested in using social networks to “look inside trends” (25.6%), including fashion and technology;
- In the other countries that participated in the research, the main reason young people use Instagram is “to keep in touch with family and friends” (26.4%);
- 42% of Brazilians would have to be older and take into account others’ interest in memes to analyze if they have any connection to them. Worldwide, this percentage is 30%.
- “Bad mood or bad mood for memes” is the second biggest reason for not enjoying anything among young people in the two participating countries, trailing only “chewing with an open mouth”;
- Brazilians are the most likely to report “trying to engage with someone who can be themselves” (51.3%) and are the most likely to respond to like stories or send memes to people they like;
- When asked why they want to change followers on Instagram, most Brazilians cited “change phone numbers” (40.6%), while young people in other countries answered “it seems more informal.”
- Young people in Brazil are also more likely to consider pausing their photos as if they were single (32%);
- The relationship with celebrities is a strong attraction for Geração Z on Instagram, and 68.3% of Brazilians need to admit that they have sent a direct message (DM) to a famous artist or famous influencer.
- 3 out of 4 people from this generation are also part of the entire world’s fandom. Main fanbases relate to: TV show/anime (32%); singers/bands (28%); video games (23%);
- Among the trends and promises for 2024, this audience wants more sustainable fashion practices, including “buying fewer clothes,” “mixing looks” and “supporting local businesses”;
- Young people also hope that 2024 will be a year of “self-improvement and development, with priorities: ‘staying healthy’, ‘exploring a career plan’ and ‘travelling’;
- In the two Geração Z participating countries, the research also revealed entrepreneurship, with 1 in 3 stating that the best way to achieve wealth is through some form of self-employment.
