In 1955, the Pan American Medical Federation recommended that Doctor’s Day be observed on December 3, a date that commemorates the birth of Carlos Juan Finley y Paris, in Camaguey, Cuba, in 1833, and his graduation as a physician from Jefferson Medical College in 1855.
The advantage of gaining this recognition from the international scientific community was his hypothesis that yellow fever required an intermediary agent for its transmission, and his suspicions were heightened by the fact that he pointed to mosquitoes of the genus Aedes as the agent involved. His theories and results were presented to the Royal Academy of Physical and Natural Sciences in Havana on August 14, 1881.
It is worth noting that the distinguished professionals working in Mendoza, Argentina and abroad have graduated from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Mendoza.
The aforementioned college recently held a new batch of degrees for 2023, with new professionals swearing under the Hippocratic Oath, “never to allow considerations of race, religion, nationality, party, or class to stand between duty and patient.” In addition to other principles and values
