Outstanding results of PROMPERÚ activities at Ficafé Puno 2023

The Export and Tourism Roundtable exceeded initial business expectations.

The exclusive attributes of special Peruvian coffee captivated 27 buyers from 13 nationalities who participated in the business conference held within the framework of Ficafé Puno 2023 and resulted in expected sales of US$15.5 million to be generated in the following 12 months. .

The Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (PROMPERÚ) reported that this figure far exceeds the initially calculated amount of US$3.5 million.

Representatives of 61 companies and producer associations from 12 regions participated in the round table: Amazonas, Apurimac, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huánuco, Junín, Lima, Pasco, Piura, Puno, San Martin, who met in 441 business meetings with buyers from Germany, Argentina , Australia, Chile, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Italy, New Zealand, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Taiwan.

Of the total international buyers, 50% had not yet purchased this Peruvian product, and in this first experience, they highlighted the quality of the specialty and organic coffee.

Let us remember that PROMPERÚ launched the Cafés del Perú sector branding in August 2018 as a priority and objective of the National Action Plan for Peruvian Coffee to develop promotional strategies and tools for the sector, allowing the dissemination and differentiation of this Peruvian product, and its promotion. Attributes, origin and sustainability.

The Export Business Roundtable was jointly organized by the Bono Regional Government and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.

Tourism wheel

Within the framework of Ficafé, PROMPERÚ also organized a tourism business roundtable, with the aim of contributing to the revitalization of the sector in the Puno region. 15 buyers from Lima, Arequipa and La Libertad participated in the exhibition, as well as 15 local exhibitors, including representatives of accommodation establishments, travel agencies and community tourism projects.

This activity ended with a total of 225 appointments resulting in S$2.3 million in business revenue, higher than initial estimates of S$1.5 million.

To complete the wheel, buyers also had the opportunity to take an orientation trip to learn about the tourism products of the southern Puno region, such as the Aymara Trail and the floating island of Chimu, in addition to suggesting the coffee they found in Vicafe.
