Rome, October 27 (Prensa Latina) The Italian General Confederation of Labor (CGIL) has called for strikes across the country starting next November 17 against the economic measures taken by the government, a statement indicated today.
An appeal published on the official website of the CGIL indicated that this union would work in conjunction with the Italian Workers’ Union (UIL), to carry out strikes and demonstrations at the regional level, to demand amendment of the draft budget law.
These union forces are generally demanding changes in government economic and social policies, although the reasons and objectives of the mobilization will be determined on November 2 during a press conference to be held at the national headquarters of the Union of Migrant Workers in this capital.
The declared invitation stated that the goal of the two organizations is to arouse public opinion, in the broadest and most general way possible, on the serious and critical issues related to the current economic policy, promoted by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
According to the document, it is necessary to re-evaluate salaries, contracts, instability, industrial policies, job security and social security, as well as re-evaluate pensions, in addition to improvements in education and health, to reduce inequality and restart growth.
Strikes and marches can be organized, by common agreement, especially in provincial and regional capitals, indicates this call, which specifies that, as a preliminary measure, there will be a national strike in the field of transport and the entire public sector on 17 November. mg/ort
