Gisela Pulido gives Spain eighth Olympic berth in the women’s Formula Kite race

Madrid, September 24 (European Press) –

Spain’s Gisela Pulido gave Spain her country’s eighth Olympic berth at the European Kite Championships, adding to those achieved by the 49er, 49er FX, 470 Mixed, iQFOiL F, iQFOiL M, ILCA 7 and Nacra 17 at the last World Cup. The Hague.

The second group of the event in the United Kingdom was led by Dutchwoman Anelus Lammertz, with two leading victories, Polish Julia Damasevic with one, and German Leonie Mayer and Spain’s Gisela Pulido, the latter two with blank marks.

Reaching the final was one of the goals, but the only Olympic berth awarded in the tournament became important as there were three countries competing for it in the semi-finals: Austria, Poland and Spain.

Austrian Alina Cornelli participated in the “A” semi-final and finished third in the only round held. In Semi-Final B, Gisela Pulido quickly took the lead of the fleet, in a tough confrontation with the Dutch Lammerts that ended in victory for the Spaniards.

The first place achieved by Gisela equaled the tally of Poland’s Damasevic, but it also kept Austria out of the match, without any victories on its boards, in the face of the Olympic berth. The Poles and Spaniards added victories but a draw favored Pulido and the Olympic place to Spain.
