By dramatically reducing illegal border crossings, by combining more legal pathways with speedy removal of those who don’t use those pathways, Biden has expanded the experience of human parole to other states.

That plan, which gives 30,000 places per month to those with a sponsor in the United States for Cubans, Haitians, Venezuelans and Nicaraguans, has been extended to other countries such as Colombia, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.

Starting Monday, with this new humane parole program for family reunification, more people seeking permission to enter the United States will benefit.

Among the requirements appear to be that you have relatives in the case of US citizens, or legal permanent residents of the northern country.

As is known, parole grants a work permit for a maximum period of three years. As the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) emphasizes, in that period, as they await a response to their applications for permanent residence in the United States, they will have the possibility to support themselves financially.

Recently, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorcas, said: “The Department has demonstrated that expanding new legal, safe, and orderly pathways for immigration to the United States, together with stringent enforcement, is an effective mechanism in reducing irregular and risky immigration into the United States.”

This extension of the parole program is part of a set of measures announced at the end of April by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State, aimed at continuing to reduce irregular immigration and expanding legal routes of entry into the country.

In fact, the plan aligns with the Biden administration’s commitment to take in up to 100,000 immigrants from Central America under this program, making it possible for citizens who meet the necessary requirements to come to the United States.
