Obrador announces low inflation in Mexico and remains committed to it

MEXICO CITY, June 8 (Prensa Latina) President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced today that Mexico is cutting inflation, and at the same time, the peso is rising like never before against the dollar and the economy is doing well.

At the beginning of his morning press conference at the National Palace, he announced that a comprehensive report on the matter would soon be prepared, recalling that after the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, its growth occurred, affecting the whole world.

In Mexico, the central bank implemented measures, took decisions, raised the interest rate, and we also made agreements with producers and traders to adjust the prices of the basic basket and this helped a lot, he said.

He added that the prices of fuel, gasoline, diesel, gas and electricity did not rise, and he thanked the shopping centers for freezing the prices of 24 general consumer products, and even lowering their prices, and this is the result.

He pointed out that the other information is that the Mexican peso continues to strengthen against the dollar and today it woke up at 17.37 per dollar.

When we came to the government, in December 2018, the number was more than 20, and expectations were that it would rise to 30 against the US currency, and there was even a commentator urging foreign currency purchases to encourage the flow of currency, the president said.

He said that they are good human beings and in themselves indicate that the economy is strengthening and that there is growth with luxury. We are working with all Latin American countries to trade and we will continue to do so so that inflation does not increase.
