Militants of the Farabundo Marti Front
SAN SALVADOR, May 27 (RHC) Today, respectively, the fighters of the FMLN, FMLN, Manuel “El Chino” Flores and Werner Marroquín registered their candidacies for the presidency and vice president of El Salvador at a ceremony at the political party’s headquarters in the capital.
After the registration process and at a press conference, Flores clarified FMLN’s position on the reports that had circulated in recent days.
We will never ally with the National Republican Alliance Party (Arena). What they know very well is how the party operates, they know that there is no alliance.”
He emphasized that it was agreed at the last congress that there was no alliance with Arena, with Gran Alianza por la Unidad Nacional (Gana), or with Nuevas Ideas.
He indicated that it is a decision that we will abide by, and even stressed that “with the deputies there are no possibilities to form a coalition, our deputies will represent the red banner of the FMLN with dignity.”
In a message to the Left in Latin America, Flores noted that “the FMLN is ready to participate in the 20224 elections with dignity, values, strength and also with determination.”
He explained: Let us turn first to the internal elections, and then determine the nominations for elected positions. What will be decided by the people and militancy, he paraphrased.
He said that the main stakes for his candidacy are restoring the battered economy, agriculture, employment, the dignity of workers and the non-political persecution of another party because they think differently, among other things.
Flores focused in particular on the participation of the largest number of women in decision-making, and on the fact that women are represented in power by 50 by 50, and for this reason he emphasized, we must meet, because the family is the basic element. The base of everything.
He stressed that among his goals is the struggle to prevent tyranny from reaching our country. He added, “People should be free to express their opinion, be free to move and not be persecuted for thinking differently.”
In another part of his assessments, he declared that the only success of the Najib Bukil government is the implementation of a successful advertising campaign.
One of the new aspects of the formula headed by Flores is the introduction of Marroquín as the vice-presidential candidate, a figure deeply rooted in the country’s struggle, but currently part of the Salvadoran community.
The above indicates, as specified, that the FMLN is with practical action demonstrating its support for these citizens.
“Without fear and conviction, I will run this campaign,” stressed Flores, who hopes to prove herself in the party’s internal elections. (Source: P.L.)
