They award National Science Laureates 2022

Anni Pardo Simo, Ph.D. in chemical sciences and biologist from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and mother of the President of the Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, has been awarded the 2022 National Science Prize, in the field of Physics- Mathematical and Natural Sciences, which he also has Physicist Roberto Escudero Derat, also a researcher at UNAM and an honorary member of the National System of Investigators (SNI).

In the second area of ​​the award, dedicated to technology, innovation and design, prizes were awarded to Argentine immunologist, based in Mexico, Ida Lydia Cioto-Conde, and plant pathologist Gustavo Mora Aguilera.

The award is held by the Department of Public Education (SEP).

And the results were announced yesterday, through the presidential agreement that was published in the Official Gazette of the federation. Where it has been proven that “the laureates of the National Science Prize 2022 have made remarkable contributions in the various fields in which this prize is awarded, driving progress and innovation in the fields of knowledge.”

The agreement published in the Ministry of Finance indicates that the four winners were selected according to the jury’s opinion record in the first field. Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences dated September 20, 2022, and record the opinion of the jury in Domain II. Technology, Innovation and Design, dated September 30, 2022, where “the respective arbitration panels decided to award the award to the four scientists.

Among the appointments, which caused the most suspicion, was Pardo Simo, the mother of the head of the city government, who is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Cellular Biology of the Faculty of Science of Onam University and has a recognized course. world for more than half a century.

Just yesterday afternoon, Claudia Sheinbaum wrote via her Twitter account: “My mother, Annie Bardot, friend, grandmother, great-grandmother, scholar, researcher, has been quoted and recognized all over the world. I tell you why.” I accompanied her text with a video clip in which she said she was proud of her mother, who is 82 years old and deserving of a National Science Award for her research in biochemistry, lung diseases, and aging. She remains very active in research and teaching.

The agreement, published in the Ministry of Finance, states that the award ceremony will take place in Mexico City, although no specific date has been specified. It should also be noted that the winners for the 2020 and 2021 editions have yet to be announced.
