The results of the “hype” for the United States will be announced as of May 6

Hundreds of Cubans benefit each year from the US Diversity Immigrant Visa Program lottery or “hype,” as they call it from the island. The results of the last registration will be announced starting this weekend, on the 6th of May.

according to Information From the State Department, program participants, who applied from October 5 to November 8, will be able to enter their confirmation number to check the result of the drawing that begins at noon on May 6.

They caution that participants in this 2024 visa lottery must keep their confirmation number until at least September 30 of next year. They also make it clear that being selected does not mean that you will get a visa, only that you will be able to apply in the election process.

“Being selected at random does not guarantee that you will receive a visa or a visa interview. Selection simply means that the person is eligible to participate in the diversity visa program,” they explained from the State Department.

The authorities remind that it is important that the confirmation number that will be entered on the web to check the results is the same as that obtained when filling out the form.

US officials specify that “during the visa interview, principal applicants must provide evidence that they have completed high school studies or the equivalent, or show two years of work experience in the past five years.”

“Those selected will need to act quickly on their immigrant visa applications,” they added.

The final interview includes criminal and security questions to determine eligibility for immigration to the United States.
