China will receive the French President and the leader of the European Union

BEIJING, April 3 (Prensa Latina) China confirmed this week that it will receive French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen who will talk with the highest authorities on bilateral and international issues.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders will arrive here from April 5 to 7, and the French will complete a state visit and meet the host personality, Xi Jinping.

Although the Foreign Ministry did not provide further details about its agendas, visitors usually during their stay here always hold talks with Premier Li Qiang and NPC Chairman Zhao Lijie.

Macron and von der Leyen will arrive in China after their recent contacts with top Chinese leaders such as Wang Yi, director of foreign affairs of the Communist Party Central Committee.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is expected to be one of the issues the two leaders discuss with their domestic interlocutors.

When Wang Yi spoke on the phone with Emmanuel Bonn, advisor to the French president, at the end of last month, he took the opportunity to call on the European Union (EU) to play a constructive role and make contributions to bring Moscow and Kiev to the negotiating table looking for a solution to the crisis.

The Chinese leader insisted that declaring a ceasefire, resuming peace talks and finding a political solution to the situation should be a strategic consensus between the Asian giant and the European Union.

Wang reiterated Beijing’s stance in favor of the talks and highlighted the will expressed in this regard by Russian President Vladimir Putin when he received President Xi Jinping in Moscow.
