BMW appoints Walter Myrtle as its new Chief Financial Officer, replacing Nicholas Peter

Madrid, March 10 (European Press) –

The company reported in a statement that the automaker BMW has appointed Walter Myrtle as its new chief financial officer, a position that will replace Nicholas Peter, who will retire after the company’s general meeting on May 11.

Myrtle joined the BMW Group in 1998 and has since held various management positions in the finance, sales and marketing departments in both Germany and the UK, while in recent years he has been Head of Operational Control of the BMW Group.

“With more than two decades in various management positions in the finance, sales and marketing departments of the BMW Group, Walter Mertel has demonstrated extensive experience and leadership skills. For years, he has embodied the company’s commitment to sustainable profitability,” confirms Chairman of the Board of Management of the BMW Board of Management, Norbert Reithofer.

With this in mind, he also confirmed that the BMW Group Board of Directors is “convinced” that Mertl will “improve” the company’s financial strength.

On the other hand, the company thanked Nicholas Peter for his work as Chief Financial Officer and emphasized his “deep experience” in coping with the “extremely volatile” past few years.

Nicholas Peter has worked for BMW for more than three decades and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2017.
