● Minister of Economic Development, Ninfa Kantu Diandar and Energy Commissioner Jose Ramon Silva Arezabalo highlight the competitive advantages of the port area

Matamoros, Tamaulipas. – In order to show the strengths of the logistical infrastructure of Tamaulipas, the Minister of Economic Development, Ninfa Cantu Deandar and the Chairman of the Energy Commission, José Ramón Silva Arezapalo, UK Ambassador to Matamoros, Mexico, received His Excellency. Mr. John Benjamin, with whom they toured the facilities of Puerto del Norte.

During the visit, officials highlighted the unprecedented efforts being made by Governor Americo Villarreal Anaya’s administration to enhance and strengthen the competitiveness of port facilities in order to create industries.

Ninfa Kantu Diandar recognized the spirit and willingness of the UK government to promote greater trade and commercial integration, and emphasized the coordination of the federal government with the state and municipality, to continue expanding its infrastructure and to provide all facilities for the company’s access.

Undersecretary Tomás Gloria Requena, representing Secretary General of the Government Hector Joel Villegas González, also participated in this meeting.

The Embassy of the United Kingdom in Mexico has indicated in its social networks that Tamaulipas is a natural entry point for trade with the United Kingdom, due to its location in the far east of the country.

During the ambassador’s visit, issues related to investment opportunities in the various sectors of the state’s economy and the potential that Puerto del Norte represents, within the framework of TMEC and the global trend of transferring industries known as Nearshoring, were addressed.

The United Kingdom is the eighth most invested country in Mexico and the second largest country to invest in Tamaulipas in 2022. Last year, corporate investment in the United Kingdom amounted to $354 million, the highest investment figure in the history of this country in the state.
