The Argentine coordinator of that organization, Gustavo Martinez, stated that the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) will call for unity in diversity.

And the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country, in statements to the “Telam” news agency, indicated that the meeting, which is scheduled to be held on the 24th of this month, will highlight the importance of preserving the region as a peace zone.

In addition, he indicated that representatives of the 33 member states will work to increase joint measures and integration, while respecting the specificities of each.

On the other hand, work will continue to strengthen CELAC as a mechanism for coordination and political agreement.

Martinez highlighted that this body has gained, under the interim presidency of Argentina, greater dynamism and presence in international forums, allowing it to defend the voice of Latin America and the Caribbean.

He also specified that the Secretary of State, Santiago Cafiero, would report on the proposed objectives and those achieved so far.

On the twelfth of this month, Brazil confirmed its return to Celak, after former President Jair Bolsonaro’s decision, on January 16, 2020, to suspend its participation.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will attend the meeting and will be received one day earlier by his counterpart, Alberto Fernandez.
