The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood, which awards the Oscars, advances its lists of finalists in 10 categories, on December 21, as productions from Argentina, Brazil and Mexico continue the race that represents South American cinema.
The famous Argentine drama directed by Santiago Miter “Argentina, 1985”, as well as “Bardo, a false chronicle of some facts” by the Mexican Alejandro G. Nominations from 92 countries, including Paraguay with “Eami” by Paz Encina.
Meanwhile, Alex Britz’s Brazilian film Territory, which follows a young indigenous chief as he defends the jungle against an invading network of farmers, is still on course for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. This film won the Audience Award and the Special Jury Prize at Sundance.

Other categories announced were Documentary Shorts, Hair and Make-up, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short, Live Action Short, and Sound and Visual Effects. Nominations for the 95th edition will be announced on January 24, while the awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 12.
