Nicaraguan Foreign Minister concludes his visit to Iran

Moncada held a meeting the day before with Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, in which they agreed to stress the consolidation of bilateral relations in the face of the sanctions imposed by the US government on the two countries.

Raisi described the bilateral relations as good and the positive and constructive cooperation between the two parties in international institutions and organizations.

During the meeting in one of the presidential halls, Nicaragua’s foreign minister highlighted Iran’s resistance to US pressure and sanctions.

He also held a meeting with Parliament Speaker Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf, and called for paving the way for greater cooperation in various fields, such as the economy, agriculture, energy and technology, while the two countries are still subject to sanctions.

At the conclusion of the exchange of views, Baqir Qalibaf pointed out that “the Americans want their own interests and use sanctions as leverage against any country that opposes them, and they always try to interfere in the internal affairs of revolutionary countries.”

Moncada, referring to the Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement signed here today with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdullah, called for accelerating and strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

He described the anti-imperialist struggle as the foundation of the relations between Iran and Nicaragua, and stressed that the two countries must resist in this long anti-imperialist process until victory is achieved.

The Nicaraguan minister highlighted the importance of establishing a joint economic committee between Iran and Nicaragua and stressed that his country is paving the way for holding the committee’s meeting as soon as possible.

Tehran and Managua have maintained very close relations since the victory of their revolution in 1979.

Both countries, known for their anti-hegemonic and anti-imperialist stances, have been subjected to interference and harsh sanctions regime by the United States, which is why they seek to further strengthen their relations to neutralize such measures.
