During an inter-parliamentary video conference with Nicaraguan deputies and members of the Council of the Russian Federation to celebrate Friendship Day between the two countries, Porras highlighted the strengthening of diplomatic relations.
In this sense, he referred to the various economic, scientific, technical and agricultural cooperation agreements and laws approved by the Nicaraguan Parliament to consolidate bilateral relations.
He stressed that “we gladly pledged to continue working and strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation, and above all, continuing to work in these difficult days will allow us to create a new reality in a multipolar world.”
Likewise, he hinted at the support of the Russian government for the people of Nicaragua, with the aim of developing this Central American country and eradicating poverty.
Referring to the pandemic caused by Covid-19, the Nicaraguan deputy noted that Russia was the first country to send the first batches of vaccines to immunize the population.
“The Sputnik V vaccines were the first vaccines that we started applying and we started to defeat the epidemic in our country with it. We are clear that there is cooperation and friendship here.”
Likewise, Ruth Molina, Chair of the Nicaragua-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group, thanked the Slavic nation for showing affection, friendship, solidarity and commitment to Nicaragua.
For her part, Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko stated that under the current global conditions it is important to modernize relations, and called for coordinating steps on regional and international issues.
Matvienko emphasized that the political dialogue between Nicaragua and Russia is being developed and strengthened, as joint efforts are being made to deepen and diversify cooperation in the economic, social, trade and cultural fields, among others.
