Preparations for the export of materials for the construction of the railway of the Trin Maya project in Mexico are underway in the port of Cienfuegos province, where there are already about 20,000 tons (tonnes) of rajón stone in open warehouses. Awaiting shipment to Yucatan.
Andres Dias Guerrero, head of the Operations Group of the Central Port Services Company, told Agence Cuba that when marketing begins, they must handle 90,000 tons of this material, a number that will increase by a stage until reaching a cadence of 200,000 tons per month.
The specialist pointed out that the Cubans had prepared in the transportation of aggregates in the port, where before they dealt with sand and at this moment “they are loading silica batana in Via Casilda, in Trinidad”.
Ragon stone is transported by rail from the Arrieta quarry, in the municipality of Palmira, Cienfuegos, to the marine station yard in southern Cuba, where five things have been implemented to facilitate the transportation of aggregates, according to information to Radio Ciudad del Mar, operations manager of the engineering construction company, Fidel Vina Sibero.
Among the goals of the Maya Train Project are to increase people’s well-being, increase tourism and support sustainable development.
The Mexican government indicated that the proposal covers about 1,500 km and will connect the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo.
In recent months, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has presented plans to support Cuba in building this mega-project in the Latin American country.
