More than taking hours out of science

The Curiosity and critical attitude are among the top goals of science education.. In education they draw their vision while strengthening the foundations of scientific literacy. As the theory rightly says (according to well-educated discourse), we guide students toward knowing their own bodies and their environment, maintaining and improving their health, developing the ability to adopt critical and responsible attitudes, promote responsible consumption, feel part of the environment and act responsibly, with commitment, and with respect for our surroundings.

In a society that claims to be a leader in science, the Department of Education of Navarre impose on d model progressive Reducing academic hoursTherefore, consciously or not, the importance of scientific and critical thinking is underestimated.

In the curriculum, subjects come and go from time to time. Basque is the language that supports education in Form D. This causes students to miss academic hours from other subjects in the ESO (electives) and in the Baccalaureate they do four extra hours per week. Although the Science Trip track was chosen at 4th ESO, Biology, Geology, Physics and Chemistry were included within these choices. Students who choose the baccalaureate science journey path must work hard to acquire an appropriate level of knowledge (in the last LOGSE, these subjects moved from 4 to 3 hours in 4 of ESO), and today, with this new lawYour efforts must be greater, because in the last year of the ESO stage, Instead of receiving 3 hours per week, they will receive 2 hours.

However, do not think that this defect scares our students, because they pass the external assessment test and the university access tests, at the same level as those for form A, G, and with the same levels of knowledge requirements. When the results of these tests are assessed, no distinction is made between the results of Form D students and the rest of the forms, even though Form D students have fewer hours of Science at 4th ESO.

The Science is the natural way of thinking that we use since childhood. We are exploratory beings by nature and we want to build a community that opposes partial, incomplete or false information. or not?

The scientific nature of education contributes to raising awareness, investigating, experimenting, searching for information, comparing, generating questions, demonstrating, proving and comparing, individually or collaboratively, the spirit of creativity and entrepreneurship among students.

Some people may think that the said rhetoric is uncomfortable, that it is innovative and based on facts, and it tirelessly fights lies, bent on seeking the truth. Are these not the basic life skills that education seeks?

What is the level of core competencies specified in the exit file for our students at the end of basic education? The LOMLOE stands for Reduction of Learning Hours at the Secondary Level. Considering the measure that the Ministry of Education of Navarre considers approved at the moment, we must express our totality Collective discrepancy because it is a distinction that directly affects the Model D educational system.

You will lose not only scientific fields, but also other fields. As in his day, too, we lost after cutting off the past, and if we do nothing, the different paths (scientific, human-economic) will weaken.

Solving the problem is as possible as it is simple. The LOMLOE says you have to take 3 electives, not 2. In other communities with their own language (Galicia, Basque Country, Catalonia…), the common subjects (Spanish, Mate and Basque) fell back by 1 hour and from there it took the 3 hours necessary to do the 3 choices. Why not take the same path?

Both scientific and equality-of-knowledge calls must be defended tirelessly in the name of “linguistic Scholei”, or in the name of “pedagogical equilibrium”. After all, it is not a question of equality, but of fairness, because the paradigms do not start from the same educational reality, not even remotely. he is
