The International Organization for Migration (IOM) warned on Saturday that 216 million people will have to leave their homes by 2050 due to the consequences of climate change.

IOM Special Envoy for Migration and Climate Action, Caroline Dumas, has launched a video on the topic on the occasion of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), which kicks off tomorrow in the Egyptian resort. He always stressed that this scourge contributes to the displacement of millions of people on this planet.

In this regard, he noted that only last year, 21 million people were displaced due to natural disasters.

“COP27 is the time when the world needs to talk about human mobility caused by the impact of climate change,” he said.

No one will be safe in the future, he said, we need to reduce disaster risk, enhance resilience and adapt to this problem.
