Russia will provide the UK with “evidence” of its involvement in the attack on the fleet in Crimea

Moscow said on Wednesday that Russia will summon the British ambassador to give him “evidence” of his involvement in the recent drone attacks against the Russian fleet in Crimea.

British authorities have repeatedly denied the Russian accusations and asserted that Moscow is seeking to “divert attention” from its military setbacks in Ukraine.

“There is no doubt about the involvement of British intelligence” in the attack on Russian ships in late October in the Black Sea and in the sabotage of gas pipelines in September, said spokeswoman for Russian diplomacy Maria Zagarova.

“The British ambassador will be summoned and the necessary things will be handed over to him. The public will be informed of the items that will be handed over to the British side as evidence,” she added.

The Kremlin blames the United Kingdom for the September bombings that destroyed Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines in the Baltic Sea, which were built to send Russian gas to Europe.

The Russian military also accuses “British experts” of being involved in a Ukrainian drone attack on Saturday against its fleet in the Sevastopol Bay in Crimea.

British diplomat James Cleverly said on Monday that the Russian accusations were “increasingly far from reality” and sought “to divert the attention of the Russian people from Russia’s failures on the battlefield.”
