In the School of Chemical Sciences of the Autonomous University of Coahuila, the AC Alumni Foundation, made up of 63 ex-students, created, with the strong intention of reimbursing their institution for the training they received, is presented to award scholarships to students from the campus.

The scholarship consists of grants of one thousand pesos per month to the beneficiary students, and there are currently 22 young people studying in various positions in the college as chemist, pharmaceutical chemist and chemical engineer; And that the members of the Foundation, among these and other measures, seek to enhance the number of support, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and to increase the number of scholarship recipients.

Jaime Izias Ortiz Cárdenas, former director of the campus and former dean of the UA de C in whose name the scholarship program was established, as well as the director of the FCQ, attended as the guest of honor at the campus auditorium. Like the president of the university, Salvador Hernández Vélez, it was the general coordinator of the holdings, Juan Homero Soto Zúñiga, who congratulated the institution’s graduates on their work and urged the students to continue their academic preparation efforts, with the promise of being part of the institution’s benefactors.

For his part, the director of the college, Gerardo Sosa Santillan, thanked the Alumni Foundation and highlighted the importance of the actions they took, such as acting with transparency. He urged scholarship holders to appreciate the effort the scholarships represent, as it is the time and dedication of a person who seeks to support a young student in a careless manner.

Fernando Terrazas Reyes, President of the AC Chemical Sciences Alumni Foundation, thanked the attendance of Engineer Jaime Isaías Ortiz Cárdenas for granting him permission for a scholarship bearing his name, in recognition of his contributions and his career.

He noted that in 2019, he and a small group of alumni approached the FCQ administration to propose the idea of ​​student support, for which the association was formally established in December 2021, and starting in 2022 is being handed over to the benefit of 22 students. (The Herald)
