Within the framework of the Carlos III Health Institute, National School of Occupational Medicine (ENMT-ISCIII), with more than 70 years of history, has been formed as a specialized reference center for training, advice, scientific publication and research in occupational medicine and nursing, thus contributing, in cooperation with both the State Public Administration and with public and private entities, to the promotion and improvement of the occupational health of workers.
The National School of Occupational Medicine is also the national reference center for the International Labor Organization’s International Center for Information on Occupational Safety and Health (CIS).
Promotes knowledge of the causes of occupational and work-related diseases by:
Continuous and specialized training of professionals in the field of occupational hazard prevention.
Biomedical and epidemiological research in occupational medicine.
To advise professionals in the field of occupational hazard prevention, the national health system, and the social partners, in the process of improving working conditions and developing and promoting good practices in health prevention.
– Dissemination of scientific knowledge about occupational health through the Journal of Medicine and Safety at Work, published in an electronic format.
To cooperate, in agreement with other bodies of the public administration of the state, autonomous communities and social interlocutors, to strengthen the preventive system and improve the health of workers.
In addition, the National School of Occupational Medicine is a national reference center for the International Center for Occupational Safety and Health Information (CIS) in International Labour Organization.
