The United Kingdom bids farewell to Queen Elizabeth II

LONDON, Sept. 19 (Princea Latina) Britons today bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8 at the age of 96 after seven decades in power, at a state funeral at Westminster Abbey.

The ceremony will begin at 11:00 local time, attended by the new King Carlos III and other members of the royal family, dozens of heads of state or government, members of the royal family from other countries, and other guests, as well as the highest local political and religious authorities.

According to the royal family, minutes ago, the king’s coffin will be carried in a military armory from the adjacent Palace of Westminster, where a chapel was installed on fire last Wednesday, which was visited by hundreds of thousands of people.

In a message issued the day before after a reception at Buckingham Palace, distinguished foreign dignitaries invited to the funeral, including the President of the United States and France, Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron, respectively, and the Vice President of Cuba, Salvador Valdes, Carlos III. He thanked the messages of condolences and support that had been received.

And the King said, as we prepare to say our last farewell, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the countless people who have supported me and my family at this sad hour.

Once the religious service at the emblematic London Abbey is over, all UK residents must observe a two-minute silence before leaving the funeral procession for Wellington Arch, where the coffin will be placed in the hearth that will take it to Windsor Castle outside London.
