The 79th Venice Film Festival kicks off in Italy

The list is completed with the films Monica (Italy), Khers Nest (Iran), All Beauty and Bloodshed (US), A Couple (France), Son (USA/France/UK), Les Mens (France) and Les enfants des autres (France).

The jury will be chaired by the famous American actress Julianne Moore and will also include Spanish director Rodrigo Soroguin, Argentine Mariano Cohen and British-Japanese writer Kazuo Ishiguro, who won the 2017 Nobel Prize for Literature.

Among the judges who will evaluate works in the competition are Italian screenwriter Leonardo Di Costanzo, French director Audrey Diwan (France) and Iranian actress Leila Hatami.

The winners must decide on the Golden Lion for Best Picture, the Silver Lion for Best Director, and the Grand Jury Prize, as well as the Volpi Cup for Best Actor and Best Actress.

They will also award a Special Jury Prize for one or two films in competition, as well as a Golden Osella for Best Artistic Contribution and a Special Lion for a Director or Actor for a Film in Competition.

The best rising actors or actresses may also receive the Marcello Mastroianni Award, established since 1998 in honor of the great Italian film star who died two years earlier.

The winners will be selected in the Horizons section, in parallel with the festival, by another jury, headed by Spanish director Isabel Coixet, and also composed of Italian Laura Pesbury, American Antonio Campos, Algerian Sofia Djama and French journalist Edouard. Weintraub.

These films will reward short films, medium-length films, and feature films in a personalized format, with a broader view of new trends in expressive languages ​​converging in cinema.
