The Colombian team qualified in the women’s 4 x 100 relay, Thursday, for the final of its category at the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be held in Cali.
Great performances by Colombians Maria Alejandra Murillo, Marlette Ospino, Melanie Bolano and Laura Martinez, who, in addition to going into the last round, set a national record by stopping the clock at 44.34.
Local athletes finished second behind the UK team with a score of 43.78 and are the favorites to win the gold medal.

The final will be Friday at 5:30 p.m. and the women’s team is hoping to have more luck than the men’s team, who played their branch final on Thursday, but were disqualified due to track breakouts.
Afifa surprise today
Israeli Blessed Akawasi Afrifa made the surprise debut on Thursday, defeating Botswana Letsel Tibogo in the 200m final.
A photo of the arrival of a very intense rivalry between the Israelis and Botswana gave the win to the former, despite the fact that both clocked a time of 19.16 seconds. The bronze went to Australian Caleb Law, who finished the test at Pascual Guerrero Stadium in Cali with a time of 20.48 seconds.
