Israeli repression leaves five Palestinians wounded in the West Bank

Ramallah, July 16 – Various Organizations reported that at least five people were injured as a result of a new campaign launched by the Israeli forces against the weekly protests against settlement construction in the village of Kafr Qaddum in the Qalqilya governorate in the northern West Bank.

Wafa news agency quoted local anti-occupation activist Murad Shteiwi as saying that the occupation soldiers stormed the town and tried to disperse the demonstration with rubber-coated live bullets and tear gas.

During the crackdown, dozens of people suffocated from tear gas. According to Shtewi, all the affected protesters at the scene were treated.

In Kafr Qaddum and the neighboring villages, its residents organize weekly demonstrations to emphasize their rejection of the illegal construction of Israeli settlements, and to demand the right to return to their lands.

According to the authorities’ data, about 600,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements established in the Palestinian territories, illegally occupied and violating international law, a fact that is denounced by various organizations that defend the cause of the Palestinian people.
